WE JUST RETURNED FOR THE SEASON. THE COURSE SEEMS TO BE IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION. ONLY ONE COMPLAINT....

IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FIRE ANTS? THEY SEEM TO BE EVERYWHERE. IT IS VERY ANNOYING TO LAY A CLUB ON THE GROUND OR STEP OUT OF THE CART TO FIND OUT THAT FIRE ANTS ARE ON YOUR CLUB OR SHOES. IT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO PLAY THE REST OF THE ROUND.

THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM HERE MORE THAN OTHER AREA COURSES. I HAVE HEARD MANY OTHER PLAYERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT

Hi John,

This is an issue that we are well aware of and we are trying our best to manage the issue. Our golf course community borders a nature preserve which brings a lot of wildlife. At our course we see more eagles, alligators, hawks, foxes, than other area courses...but, we also see more pests like fire ants. I guess that is the trade-off.

The problem is currently being managed with an ant bait that is spread by hand by staff and even a member, thanks Harvey! We are looking at alternatives from a variety of companies(with surprisingly expensive solutions), but even these companies cannot provide an absolute solution. It is probable that we will use one of these companies though.

All I can suggest is to be careful and aware of where you step. The time you spend looking up for the bald eagles, spend the same time looking down for the ant hills!

Sorry for your experience, I have have felt the sting of ant bites myself!
